The BES(t) 4 kids program wants to ensure good quality, safe and affordable childcare for children in the Caribbean Netherlands, so that every child has the opportunity to develop to their full potential. Therefore the quality must increase and the costs of childcare must decrease for parents. To find out the effectiveness of the program, we monitor among others how many children participate in childcare and benefit from the program, the level of parental contribution and the training of child care professionals.

Children in childcare

This graph shows the number of children per island that use daycare and out-of-school care. They are reaping the benefits of the improvements brought about by the BES(t) 4 kids programme. In the case of daycare the children involved are aged between 0 and 4, while the children attending out-of-school care are already attending primary school. In the ‘Total’ graph you can see that more and more children are using and are able to use childcare in the Caribbean Netherlands.
